Cyprus Sail/Flotilla– March 2023
• Thursday, March 16: Fly to Cyprus and transfer to Limassol Marina. When the group arrives, we will have a check-out for each yacht. This is a good opportunity to learn the procedure for receiving a charter boat for a bareboat charter vacation. A small group will go on a shopping trip to buy provisions for the cruise. Time and weather permitting we can take an afternoon sail out in the bay of Limassol. Dinner on your own in Limassol. We’ll sleep aboard the yacht in the marina.
• Friday, March 17: In the morning we’ll release our lines and depart from Limassol Marina. We’ll sail westerly to the Bay of Pissouri (23nm) (weather permitting) and drop anchor close to the shore. Along the way we’ll review anchoring theory, and you’ll have plenty of time to practice your helming and coastal navigation skills. We will practice launching the dinghy and maneuvering with the outboard engine. We’ll have dinner either aboard the yacht, or ashore at the colorful seaside taverns along with the evening briefing for the next day’s sail.
• Saturday, May 18: Brave enough for a morning swim perhaps? We’ll depart after breakfast for our leisurely sail back to Limassol. It’s a beautiful sail along the shores of Cyprus on Episkopi Bay. Charting a course to Cape Akrotiri we’ll pass Cape Gata on our port side and enter Akrotiri Bay. Weather permitting, we can perhaps anchor at beautiful Lady’s’ Mile Beach south of Limassol. From here it’s a short sail to our home port at Limassol Marina. We can organize a group dinner at one of the local restaurants in the area.
• Sunday, May 19: This morning we check in the boat back to the charter operator, Globalia Sailing. You’ll learn how to follow the check-in inspection procedure by the charter operator. Following this you will either transfer to the airport for your flight home or have the rest of the day free to relax or sightsee in Limassol. We can help you arrange a tour of the local Cypriot wineries with one of the local wine tour operators.
Price: 1300 Euros per person
What is Included?
· Charter of the yacht for 3 nights and 4 days with skipper aboard the yacht(s)
· Cleaning package, bedding, and towels
· Dinghy and outboard motor
What’s Not Included?
· Flights, one-way transfer from airport to Limassol Marina on arrival, food, restaurants, diesel fill, any fees at marinas other than Limassol
Estimate of Extra Charges
· Airport to Limassol Marina Transfer: 80-100 Euros per group including suitcases
· Provisions: With group purchase of provisions, it should total approximately 30 Euros per person per day
· Travel Insurance: Please check with your usual travel insurance company to obtain a quote. Each participant is responsible obtaining his/her own travel insurance
· Telephone: Each participant can arrange his/her own international telephone package with their carrier. There is good Wi-Fi accessibility at Limassol Marina. You can buy a sim card in Cyprus which is an inexpensive solution.
