Running a Sailing Program in the Shadow of Wartime

Our Spring/Summer season was getting off to a good start finally after a very slow winter. Unfortunately the war with Iran has put a sad stop to the plans and not sure what the coming months will bring.

An unintended consequence of the war is the huge spike in traffic to our site with many enquiries every day from people desperate to get to Cyprus to continue on to their homes abroad. It's sad to hear some of the stories they write in the short contact form emails.

Since we sail on the yachts of Tashoot we aren't able to independently organize groups and refer people to them. Our own yacht is currently sailing to Cyprus to "rescue" a couple of our partners who got stranded in Europe at the outbreak of the war and made their way to Limassol asking if we would come get them. What you don't do for partners.

We had a monthly group sail for American Embassy personnel but have had to cancel the June one and the rest of the series is in jeopardy too. We had finally got a new ASA group booked and starting June 22, but that is now on hold and not sure if it will happen at all.

With some progress towards a ceasefire and maybe maybe maybe some negotiations, we will keep an optimistic attitude (as hard as it is to do) and hope that the conflict is on the way to resolution of some sort.

So Fair Winds to all sailors and friend of Sailing Israel and better times ahead.
